Soft Pastel Paintings
Color, Value and Design are dynamics in creating paintings, considered important tools to forge my Landscapes, Still Life’s, Portraits of Animal’s, Homes, Objects and Subjects are based on Mother Nature way of displaying its beauty.
Capturing Hues understated at times, yet can be brilliant and overpowering; depending on the time of day or season are the sensations I attempt to encapsulate in my paintings. This is why I enjoy working En Plein Air, or with subject’s or object’s at hand. Moments encountered, by the naked eye are the subjects of my work; using a camera assists in maintaining the values suspended, which creates the impact of my paintings. A Camera I find to be a useful tool when completing a work in my studio. Emotion encountered, as I happen upon a scene, is what I wish to convey to the viewer.
Robert Brackman, Master Artist and Teacher at the New York Art Students League; was a positive influence since he fostered a great desire for me to return to painting years after a long absence from this love. He demonstrated and instilled the use colors and its relationship to objects, subjects and people. Over the years, I have discovered how natural light changes the color and value of the landscape, while painting out of doors.
Further encouragement came from other Master Artists: who helped improvre my growth over the years. My confidant and spouse continues to support my return to the art scene.
Devotion plus continued tuning of my skills, will enable the viewing audience to be inspired by the beauty of our everchanging Surroundings; as I impart it in my paintings.
